[...] Joyce’s advice got me going about all the cool travel gadgets I’ve been seeing while looking around, though I have to say, the foundation/sunscreen combo does not make my list. Those who know me know that I’m quite the gadget geek, and while traveling is when a truly useful product shines. So I thought I would post about some of those things that I think are particularly interesting and/or neat products. These are some of the things I plan to have with me next year: [...]

You're lucky your hair is nice and straight :) I think if I didn't have a hairdryer or anything in those humid climates I would just be wraping a scarf around my head the whole time just to try to keep my hair tame!

Well, I have to say that not only is this my first time responding to a posting, but that, as a current traveler I admit that looking cute becomes a moot point, sometimes. The other times its extremely important. That said I suggest getting makeup that also works as a sun protectant. I have some and its awesome. I use concealer, sometimes mascara, but the real jewel is the foundation. It is SPF 20 and can be used as a blush and eyeshadow, plus it has a mirror! (Check into Physicians Formula - I found it at a Target.) So that's all I carry.

More things I should mention, don't get too attached to your clothes - I've already lost a shirt, it flew off the back of a boat in the Galapagos, and a sweater slash robe thingy, who knows where that went. There's a great company that makes SPF and bug proof clothes, called BUGOFF. The company is Ex Officio. Our favorite things so far are pants that can be made into shorts and these sortof hideous shirts (mine look like I should be in a correctional facility), but they were really amazing in the jungle. Hope this helps!

I'm sure there's going to be places where the environment is much like Egypt, and we both know that in those conditions, you just want to be comfortable and cool, no matter how ridiculous you look. And I'm sure you'll feel the same way about cool environments, wanting to be comfortable and warm.

The macabi is the ugliest skirt that I've ever seen. It's like the Pentecostal kids who have to wear pants and skirts all year because of their religion. Hideous!

As for the glasses you wore: you had 2 pair at that time and you liked the ones you wore. As I recall I was the one who suggested you wear the other pair and stubborn then as you still are you now, you didn't follow my suggestion.
I am sure I will still like the pics of you during your year of travel regardless of how your hair is fixed and whether or not you are wearing makeup.

Allow me to be the second person to say thank goodness Theresa wasn't born butt ugly. And as long as I have access to some kind of soap, my look should be just fine. Not that that is at all fashionable either.
