Now I'm wondering if there are any good markets around here I can go check out... Of course I love Pike Place Market and any of the markets in Germany (because really, a lot of the fests are just glorified seasonal markets). There was a great one we walked through in Ljubljana, Slovenia (just a wonderful city in general!)
p.s. it was great seeing you last week! I'm sorry we didn't have more time, but I might try and make it out there again this summer :)

Zachary loved the market in Barbados. Since most everything has to be imported, he really enjoyed the authenicity of the Bajan market. Everything was Bajan. He actually bought a painting.

Valu-Market? I like the title of the piece. I've begun research for a paper I'm to write this semester and I'm attempting to tackle the "social history" of architecture/urban landscape, with particular interest towards how social history affects preservation (or lack there) of "historic" structures. While I'm drawn to buildings because of their aesthetic appeal, I'm much more interested in the "social history" of that building. Ordinary buildings can be historically significant just because of its social history and a place like a market is a perfect example to help understand the greater "social history" of an area, city, or urban landscape. It's the people, stupid.
