I think after the countries that are at war or where they all hate America, I think I'm most afraid of going to countries where women are not given equal status with men. The places where you can get in trouble for showing too much skin or being friendly with men who you're not married or related to. I would really love to go to the middle east, but this is the main draw back for me. Although, I hear that Dubai isn't really that bad and I would certainly love to see it.

Jeff, Believe it or not, I have known Theresa to make dumb decisions at time. She might not admit it, but I do have a couple I could tell you about. So, I did mean Theresa or Jeff when I commented. I know you will always watch out for Theresa, even though at times it might be to spare yourself my wrath!

"If Jeff decides to do something dumb, I am sure you will nix the idea."

Fixed it for you Mrs. Dowell. Theresa doesn't do dumb things. If anyone's gonna get us into trouble, it'll be me. Theresa's my voice of reason.

Thanks Theresa for the reassurance. You know I trust you and Jeff to make intelligent decisions as you travel the world. Yes, I will be concerned but not worried daily. If one of you decides to do something dumb, I am sure the other of you will nix the idea. I have to agree with Greg on countries I wouldn't travel to and Matt just might have a point too.

It seems to me that the most unstable countries are on the African continent. Most are still struggling to become 100% autonomous following their independence from European colonialism not too long ago. Often the factions created by the conquering Europeans remain intact even though they didn't exist prior to colonization or weren't as pronounced. Zimbabwe is the perfect example right now as they are on the brink of violence/war because of the election situation (and to think its getting so bad here that Howard Dean is telling Obama and Clinton to cool their rhetoric). You just have to keep an eye on the situation as it can change instantly. The countries I wouldn't travel to at this time include: Iraq, Iran, North Korea. Outside of that I am sure there are certain areas within other countries that I would avoid, but not necessarily the entire country.
