Don't even try to call yourselves "Cheles" outside of Nicaragua or El Salvador, no one will have any idea what you are talking about. On the good side, you will learn a lot of different words and phrases for the same things, so your Spanish will be well rounded. I learned to count to ten, how to ask for agua if I'm stranded in the desert and learned how to say that I'm hot.
