that sucks! I’m so sorry that happened to you… I’m glad you didn’t lose any of your important documents (woohoo for secret pockets!) but I can only imagine how you feel about losing your notebooks. And I can’t believe you were so close to the end of your trip and then something like this has to happen! Hopefully it doesn’t color the last few days of your trip in a bad light for you. I hope you’re able to shake it off enough to enjoy the beaches in Thailand!

It’s always the small personal things that you can’t insure that hurt the worst. Hopefully the recovery process of all the emails won’t be too bad and the incident will be long behind you soon.

This is the worst.. I’m so sorry. As everyone else said you’re lucky it wasn’t passports or plane tickets or credit cards, but it is the worst feeling in the world. In Melbourne some dude walked in from off the street, started playing pool with us in the hostel and stole my friend’s wallet OUT OF HER POCKET while we were playing – we thought he was a traveler staying there too. All her money, her ID, her credit cards, her ATM, and we were at ‘home’! Anyway try not to let it turn you off to India, it’s so easy to write off the whole country because of how damn crowded/poor/untrustworthy/dirty/suspicious it can be, but hopefully you’ll get to Varanasi and fall in love with all the positive stuff that draws people from all over the world. And yes have the satisfaction that dude was expecting to make out with some serious bank, and came up with basically nothing worthwhile to him.. you totally outsmarted him. Can your mom sew me some secret pockets?

that sucks. crime like that is all over the place in India. sorry it hit you. It sucks and it happens but it always sucks when the valuables get stolen..and valuables I mean like your notebooks. If someone ever stole my camera, I’d probably beg and plead for the SD card with my photos on it.

I’m sorry this happened. hopefully, you’ll reach all those travelers some how!

it’s not just out in the world… it’s at home too. i don’t know if you’d heard yet theresa, but our house was robbed 2 weekends ago. it is most definitely the violation that sucks the most. i’m sorry you had to experience that… next time keep a ziploc bag of dog poo in there… how awesome would that have been

That does suck. I’m sorry you went through this. You know, you did everything right – but it’s never enough. If you’re going to go out and interact in the world, you expose yourself to risks like this. I’m glad you didn’t lose your passport or money or anything like that… but I am sorry you lost your notebook.
