This is beautifully written. I too have taught refugees and I now studying so that I may do it again in the future, but with greater knowledge.

Your understanding of the “gentleman from Iraq” bought tears to my eyes. You are the kind of teacher the world needs. Bravo to you!

I feel you about the Mangoes. While in the Philippines you could get fresh cut mangoes for dirt cheap. I think we were paying 10C american for each one they picked for us. Being back in the states now has bummed me with the quality of the ones we have here.

Have you found anywhere, chain or local, that sells close to the quality you described in this post yet?

It may be tough and requires hard work but it can be a very profitable job if you have the skills required and patience in the beginning when you don’t have a portfolio to show to your contractors but once you get the experience you will find out that it is a top earning job. Of course as you said someone cannot expect to be a millionaire and requires hard work to get a decent income

Great photos! They remind of Finding Nemo and I need to get out and go snorkeling I live near beaches and have yet to take my family snorkeling. Looks like a great adventure.

I guess this is one of those times when ignoring the first impressions was a good thing. Im not sure my wife would have wanted to stick around after smelling pee and smelly fish much less having dogs sniffing her.

Looks like in the end you made a great choice though and the photos are wonderful.
